PM Modi Slams Congress for ‘Backstabbing’ DMK, Says DMK Helped Congress Government Survive Before 2014

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked Congress over its decision to support Vijay’s TVK in Tamil Nadu, accusing the party of abandoning its long-time ally DMK after depending on its support for years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a sharp attack on the Congress party over its political move in Tamil Nadu, accusing it of betraying its long-time ally, the DMK.
The remarks came after Congress moved away from DMK and extended support to Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which formed the new government in Tamil Nadu. Modi alleged that Congress had depended on DMK’s support for years but abandoned the party when the political situation changed. According to reports, PM Modi said the Congress-led government before 2014 survived largely because of DMK’s support. He accused Congress of being driven by power politics and claimed that the party “stabbed the DMK in the back” at the first opportunity.
The statement has added fresh heat to Tamil Nadu’s post-election political atmosphere. Vijay has already taken oath as Chief Minister, while Congress support to TVK has created a major shift in the state’s alliance equations. The DMK has also expressed dissatisfaction over Congress’s decision. Reports said M K Stalin focused on avoiding re-election and ensuring political stability, while also criticising Congress for lack of communication after the election.
The latest developments show that Tamil Nadu politics has entered a new phase. With TVK now in power, Congress repositioning itself, DMK moving into opposition, and BJP attacking the alliance shift, the state’s political balance is changing rapidly.
